Inkyu Hwang works with an interest in the imbalance of sensibility and the reconstitution of the self that arises in digital environments. He uses structures found in internet communities, algorithmic culture, and game-like interactions as material, connecting them to his own sensory experience. Through devices and systems that evoke sensation, he experiments with the points where an individual’s position, performance, and perception fall out of alignment. Rather than a complete self, he focuses on sensibility that is constantly being reconstituted–one that emerges through error.
