Zara is a PhD candidate in Anthropology at Rice University. Her research examines the ambivalence of care under conditions of attrition across psychiatric clinics, addiction economies, and humanitarian infrastructures in Kashmir. Drawing on feminist and decolonial thought, she attends to the familial, spiritual, and bureaucratic labor that metabolizes where institutions falter, tracing broader questions about infrastructure and the political life of care.
Prior to Rice, she trained in psychology and medical humanities and worked as a human rights researcher, formations that continue to inform her approach to the institutions she studies and the politics of knowledge production itself.
